World's Longest Scuba Submergence

[Day 04]
Day 4 (19-20 Dec 2005)

I'm in the water for 65 hrs 40 mins now. Almost one third of the total time. Getting there slowly. I feel very excited, though tired from the lack of sleep.

I have scars developing from long immersion in water. My face has bruises on my cheek bone area from wearing the full-face mask. Both ears are hurting especially the right ear.

The mask is very tight. My eyes are filled with mucuous. The only thin I can do is just blink.

My elbows are beginning to hurt from skin maceration. My hands are also beginning to prune even though we’ve applied grease and 2 layers of rubber gloves. My legs are also hurting from the tight socks and booties. We are going to change the booties to larger ones. We’ll do away with the latex socks and use clean-wrap. But aprt from the bruises and wounds, I feel ok. Just tired from lack of sleep.

People has been very supportive. They all stopped, waved, took photos and wrote words of encouragement. I feel very touched by them. They have become my motivation to break the record. They are very much part of the attempt.

The support team has been doing a great job. They are also tired from looking after me 24 hours. Without them, there is no attempt. Christopher, Eunice and Dr Michael Ong has been taking turns to check me during the breaks in the dry chamber. They make sure my body can continue functioning. The paramedics from SCDF also assist in the checking and talking to me from outside.

Alex and team from Fishermen Scuba make sure I have constant supply of air. Jac the nutritutionist monitors my fluid intake. The witnesses from NYAA keeps the logbooks updated for submission later. Lionel keeps the water filtration and heating going. The CORE team Rahim, Gus, Rosli and the others monitor the entire dive and looks after my safety in the water.

Jeremy and Sylvia from The Water Consultant keeps the water ionized with minerals. SCDF also provides the red rhino to pump in water into the tank.

Mr Tan from Seapro for supplying my tailor made dive suite and DKSH for the Resource Fruit Beverage.

Kim and Jeremiah and Arron from Aonia Universal coordinated the media so they can help to tell the story. Judah from Astralys Solutions provided the IT solution for the clock and website updates. Energizer, Ballwatch, NECDC and i-Dragon provided some cash sponsorship to pay for the expenses.

Thanks also goes to Raymond from Heartware, NECDC and NVPC for making us part of the Giving Tree @ North East.

And Nelly from Touch & Print for providing waterproof paper so that I can write to you in the water.

Stay cool and dry :)
