World's Longest Scuba Submergence

[Day 05]
Day 5 Peak & Valley (20-21 Dec 2005)

I had diarrhoea this morning. Felt terrible & weak. Need to rest & drink more. Used up a lot of the precious break-time accumulated.

Last night, had another technical problem. The mask was leaking water had to flush it regularly & couldn't sleep. So, decided to get into the chamber & let the technical guys fix it. After that, I slept soundly for the first time in 6 days. Must be the fatigue.

That's life, full of peaks and Valleys.

The skin on the back of my thumb has broken due to maceration. The pain has started and I know from the test dive, the pain will get worse.

Pain also on my elbows. My Face & ears must be a mess. 4 days down 5 more to go. won't be long now. Just got to hang in there for a little while.

After observing people for 5 days from inside the tank, I concluded that they stopped to look because they are curious, and most of them stayed for a while to give support & encouragement. They are from all races, religions, ages & colors & sizes & shapes. I also concluded that courage & determination are universal values that needs no explanation. They came, they saw and they identified with what I'm doing. That's an inspiration to me.
