Due to heavy snow forecast on 16th at 8000m, summit day is now planned for 18th instead of 17th with 20km/h wind. Getting closer now…

C2 Finally

Came up to C2 today with 4 other climbers from our team. Snowing but no wind. Feeling a bit tired but ok. Rest tmr & may go for summit on 17th.

Sad News

Another sad news, one of our sherpas fell to his death from C3 yerterday evening. 3rd death this season and all 3 are sherpas.

News from some weather forecast says 17th is the 1st summit window. Everyone’s patience is being tested. Yesterday, choppers were busy flying to C2 for an medical evacuation & repatriation of the sherpa ‘s body.

Complications

Yesterday a famous Italian climber got into a fist fight with Sherpas who were fixing rope to C3. Apparently, he told the Sherpas they were too slow, he went ahead, dislodged some ice blocks and injured a Sherpa on the face. The Italian has been told not to return to Nepal for 5-10 years.

I was planning to go to C1 today but was advised to wait a day till things settle down. It’s unclear when the rope-fixing will resume.

Arrived BC

Went up to C1 yesterday and back in same day. This year, shorter ladders but route closer to ice towers. Many climbers coughing. I am keeping well so far.
