Swee Chiow set out in March 2001 on Hitachi Extreme North Expedition in an attempt to reach the Geographic North Pole. After 9 days on the ice, he had to be evacuated as he suffered frostbite on his fingers.

Having gained precious experience, Swee Chiow is now planning a 2nd attempt in March 2002. The economy downturn has also affected this adventurer - it is much harder now to secure sponsorship as companies cut budget. His challenge now is to work doubly hard!
