Shishapangma

The burning question: "Can I climb an 8000 meter peak without oxygen?" Swee Chiow had to find out.

He got the answer on 28 September 2001 when he stood on the summit of Shishapangma (8027m). He was part of an international team of 6 climbers. They climbed the right-hand couloir on the South West Face pioneered by Doug Scott.

He thus becomes the 1st South East Asian to reach the summit of an 8000 meter peak without oxygen aid.
